This month the project foodie group is heroing Orange.

Which is perfect for this time of year!! The sweet fruit always makes an appearance at the Christmas table, or in our stockings!

As I am not a big dessert lover I took my orange in the co*cktail direction....because I am definitely a co*cktail lover 😉

And I mean who is going to say no to aGinger, Star Anise and Orange Gin and Tonic?

Now usually when you think of gin and tonic and you think of summer and sitting outside as the sun sets? Which is how I enjoy my Strawberry and Black Pepper Gin and Tonic or my

But thisGinger, Star Anise and Orange Gin and Tonic is great for fall and winter. It smells of Christmas!

I like to shake my gin with a little of each aromatic, the strain it into a glass and add fresh aromatics for garnish. This keeps it looking pretty! No one wants a tiny piece of star anise floating in their gin and tonic!!

With the ginger I don't worry about peeling it. I just cut a nice thick slice and use that.

Use a potato peeler to remove a nice wide piece of zest and then lightly fold it before adding it to your drink. This allows all the oils to release into your drink. Just be sure not to peel off any pith, it is bitter and will ruin your drink. NOT GOOD!!!

You might want to add more ice than I did 😉 Maybe? Or keep it easy to drink with a small handful of ice. Sometimes i get fed up with the ice watering down my drink and clinking against my teeth. I probably should use a straw and sip it!! But these are too good to sip! Best to take a big drink and then pour a second. LOL

What kind of tonic would you use? Would you go for a flavoured tonic or stick with regular Indian tonic water?

      Sorry I missed this before!
I would go with a regular tonic water, to let the other flavors shine 🙂
